SAP Assessments

Understanding the Meaning of a SAP

SAP is the Government's Standard Assessment Procedure for the Energy Rating of Dwellings. SAP 2005 has been adopted by the government as part of the UK national methodology for the calculation of the energy performance of buildings. It is used to demonstrate compliance with building regulations for dwellings - Part L - and to provide energy ratings for dwellings.

Coming to us for your SAP's and EPC's allows you to have a working partner for all of the required regulations from start to finish. We will be involved from the outset, compiling your Design Stage SAP, PEA and registering your plots.

The SAP Checklist to the left is to be filled in and posted back to us along with your floor plans, elevations, site plans and additional design details.   These should be final copies so that we can accurately reflect the build information into the calculations.  Once everything is received, we'll be able to turn these around for you usually within 5 business days.

When you've completed the Air Tightness Test, we will produce the EPC based on the Design Air Permeabilty figure in the SAP. If your dwelling obtains a pass or even better, an improvement on the Design Air Permeability, then this will be reflected in an improved EPC score.
